Leila is currently in residence at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA, as a 2016-2017 writing fellow.
2016 Presidential Election
Leila released the poem “Okay When Are We Going” on Election Day in protest of Donald Trump’s candidacy and anti-Muslim rhetoric.
Leila appeared in the recent issue of Moledro Magazine as a featured poet alongside Javier Zamora and Paige Lewis. Three of her poems can be found in the issue here.
Leila recently adapted her poem “Muslim Christmas” into a visual poem. The poem first appeared in Linebreak.
Leila’s poems have recently appeared in Narrative Magazine, Indiana Review, Rattle, Spoon River Poetry Review, Moledro Magazine, and STORGY Magazine, and she has poems forthcoming in The Rumpus, Pleiades, The Greensboro Review, Bellevue Literary Review, and RHINO Poetry.
